Donor eggs for LGBTQ+ families

At Cofertility, we believe in the equal right to parent. Our egg donor matching platform serves families of all backgrounds, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or relationship status.

Meet Dr. Pang

Dr. Samuel Pang is a Medical Advisor at Cofertility and board certified OBGYN and fertility doctor. Dr. Pang is a pioneer in providing reproductive care to LGBTQ+ patients. In 1998, he was among the earliest physicians offering assisted reproductive technology (ART) to gay men who sought parenthood via donor eggs and gestational surrogacy.

In 2007, he began providing IVF services to lesbian couples without infertility, coining the term “reciprocal IVF” for one person providing oocytes and the other gestating. In 2012, he began treating transgender men for fertility preservation and reciprocal IVF, and transgender men who choose to gestate themselves. He was recently selected by ASRM for their Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award in 2022.

What people are saying

“We feel so lucky to have come across Cofertility as we’re making the most important decision of our life. They’ve taken what’s become a depersonalized journey and made it into something deeply emotional. They take the time to get to know Intended Parents and Split Members to make sure it’s a perfectly aligned match all around.”

"Physicians are often forced to sacrifice their most fertile years for their training, and that becomes such a huge source of anxiety for so many female doctors.

This is an opportunity to preserve some of your fertility, while doing something amazing for another family."

“If I can assist in bringing pure joy into another family’s life, I’d do it willingly, with a full heart.

I watched my best friend go through a miscarriage, only to find out she wouldn’t be able to have kids of her own. It was one of the most heartbreaking experiences I’ve ever witnessed. I vowed that if I could ever help someone in that capacity, I would.”

“I love Cofertility’s focus on the families they work with, and their passion for fertility education.

I love that I’m able to freeze eggs for myself while also giving to others. This meaningful act is something that I’m honored to do and thinking about what this could lead to floods me with happiness.”

“As someone who constantly looks to give and support where I can, this felt like an unparalleled opportunity.

‍

I want the option to have children, but I am just not ready yet. It’s incredible that I can help other couples who may not be able to conceive.”

Will egg sharing provide me with enough eggs?

At Cofertility, we exclusively work under the egg sharing model. Rather than cash compensation, our donors keep half of the eggs retrieved and donate the other half to your family. We believe this model benefits everyone involved, particularly the donor-conceived child.

Egg-share programs like ours implement meticulous testing and medical screening to ensure donors have a high likelihood of success. For those who match with a donor in our fresh egg donation program, the average number of mature eggs a family receives and fertilizes is 12. The number of eggs retrieved varies by patient and cycle, but can be predicted by a donor’s age, AMH, and antral follicle count, all of which will be known to you after the donor’s initial screening. Qualified candidates have an ample ovarian reserve for both their own needs and sharing. Egg share donors also often work closely with a fertility doctor to determine, based on their own medical history, the optimal number of eggs needed for their own future family-building goals. Should it make sense for the donor, they may choose to pursue a second egg-sharing cycle to maximize the chances of success for everyone.

Matching with a donor in our frozen program can provide the opportunity to move forward with your family-building plans faster, as frozen eggs can be fertilized or shipped to your clinic immediately or as soon as the cycle is complete. Donors undergoing frozen cycles complete equally rigorous ovarian reserve testing. While the total number of frozen eggs available will vary based on the donor’s retrieval outcomes, every frozen match is guaranteed to have a minimum of at least 6 frozen eggs.
