At Cofertility, we believe in the equal right to parent. LGBTQ+ families have historically faced more rigorous scrutiny and challenges than heterosexual families regarding their rights to be or become parents, including discriminatory laws making it difficult in some states for both parents to be on the birth certificate. We stand by protections for LGBTQ+ parents and their children, and support all families equally.
As more and more LGBTQ+ couples and individuals look to start families, the demand for egg donation services has grown rapidly. At Cofertility, we believe in the equal right to parent. Our Family by Co egg donor matching platform serves families of all backgrounds, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or relationship status. In this article, we will share what sets us apart from other agencies.
Why choose Cofertility?
We understand the unique challenges and concerns faced by gay men who wish to become parents. That's why we have created an egg donation program specifically designed to meet the needs of same-sex male couples. Our team of experienced Member Advocates is dedicated to helping you navigate the egg donation process with confidence and ease. In an industry where most of our competitors don’t even have a team page on their website, our team strives to be accessible, transparent, and genuinely helpful.
We understand that the egg donation process can be daunting for first-time parents, and we strive to provide the families we serve with all the information they need to make confident, informed decisions. We are known for our open and honest communication style, and our team is always available to answer any questions you may have.
Another key advantage of working with us is our focus on finding egg donors who are LGBTQ+ friendly. We ensure that the donors are not only comfortable with working with gay men but also understand the importance of helping them start a family. This approach ensures that the egg donation process is a positive and inclusive experience for everyone involved.
We are committed to providing an egg donation process that is straightforward and well-organized. You can create a free account to get to know our amazing, diverse, pre-qualified egg donors, including detailed profiles that include information such as the donor's age, physical characteristics, education, and medical history. You can review and star profiles of donors that would be the best fit for your family. Once you’re ready to match, you can place a hold on the match to get the ball rolling.
Once you’ve found the perfect donor, we’ll work with you to coordinate the necessary medical and legal procedures. This includes coordinating the donor's egg retrieval procedure when you match with a donor in our fresh egg donation program and facilitating the legal agreements necessary to establish parental rights. We’ll manage the escrow and ensure everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
Our Split model honors everyone involved
We think cash compensation for donor eggs can feel icky. In fact, a 2021 Harvard study found that 62% of donor-conceived adults felt the exchange of money for donor gametes was wrong, and 41% were troubled by the fact that money was exchanged around their conception. This is why we created our Split program. This unique model empowers women to take control of their own reproductive health while giving you the gift of a lifetime. Our donors aren’t doing it for cash – they keep half the eggs retrieved for their own future use, and donate half to your family.
This model not only empowers our donors by giving them control over their own fertility, but it also enables us to recruit a truly exceptional group of donors. Our donors are motivated by the opportunity to help others start their families while also taking charge of their own reproductive futures. By offering this unique Split model, we have been able to attract a diverse and talented group of women who are passionate about helping others and committed to making a difference in the world.
Meet our Medical Advisor, Dr. Pang - a pioneer in LGBTQ+ fertility care
Dr. Samuel Pang is a Medical Advisor at Cofertility and board certified OBGYN and fertility doctor. Dr. Pang is a pioneer in providing reproductive care to LGBTQ+ patients. In 1998, he was among the earliest physicians offering assisted reproductive technology (ART) to gay men who sought parenthood via donor eggs and gestational surrogacy.
In 2007, he began providing IVF services to lesbian couples without infertility, coining the term “reciprocal IVF” for one person providing oocytes and the other gestating. In 2012, he began treating transgender men for fertility preservation and reciprocal IVF, and transgender men who choose to gestate themselves. He was recently selected by ASRM for their Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award in 2022.

What if we don’t have a fertility clinic?
That’s totally okay. We’re excited to work with you regardless of where you are in the family-building journey. Whether you’re just starting the process or have an established relationship with a clinic, we’d love to walk the rest of the road with you. We can recommend and introduce you to top fertility doctors in our network of partner clinics.
What will it cost?
We know IVF and egg donation are big expenses for families, and we want to help you financially plan for your donation journey. During a fresh egg donation journey with Cofertility, you will pay a match deposit, coordination fee, administrative expenses plus any medical expenses from your clinic associated with the screening, and egg retrieval. If your donor needs to travel for any part of this, you will be responsible for covering those costs.
In a frozen egg donation journey with Cofertility, the number of eggs that you receive will vary based on the donor’s cycle outcomes. Pricing is based on a per-egg pricing model and the total cost of each match in turn varies based on the number of frozen eggs available. The match cost is inclusive of the match deposit and all expenses associated with the coordination of the cycle and with the donor’s screening, retrieval, and medications. It’s the all-in cost of getting frozen eggs.
All of our pricing also includes our Baby Guarantee, our promise that if for any reason outside your control your initial match does not lead to a live birth, we’ll re-match you for free until that happens.

How are your donors screened?
Our team screens donors through a rigorous, multi-step process to ensure each person is qualified and prepared to become an egg donor, going above and beyond FDA and ASRM-recommended screening guidelines. Before donors can be listed on our platform, we review their personal and family medical history and collect information on their lifestyle and behavioral habits. Most importantly, we meet 1:1 with every donor to get at the core of who she is as a person — her values, her goals, her personality. This allows us to provide you with the most thoughtful match possible.
Once you move forward with a match, the donor will undergo a physical examination, psychological evaluation, and full genetic screen. A doctor will review these results and give us the green light to move forward. We will also ensure that donors are screened for background and education checks.
Our Baby Guarantee
While some agencies require you to pay extra to receive any form of a guarantee, Cofertility’s Baby Guarantee is built into our pricing. We want to help you bring your baby home, and we'll re-match you for free until that happens.
This means that if at any point along your egg donation journey, something out of your control prevents you from bringing your baby home, we'll re-match you for free or we'll offer you a full or partial refund if you do not move forward with another donor.
